Barcelona Summer Signing Jesse Bisiwu Cleared for First-Team Debut
Barcelona have finally received the green light they were waiting for regarding one of their exciting young summer arrivals.
Jesse Bisiwu has completed his La Liga registration and is now officially eligible to play for Barcelona’s first team, removing the administrative obstacle that had delayed his competitive debut.
According to SPORT, the 18-year-old Belgian winger has received the necessary approval and can now be selected by Hansi Flick for a La Liga fixture.
That means Bisiwu could potentially make his first-team matchday squad as early as next weekend, provided Flick believes the teenager is ready to step onto the senior stage.
Registration Issue Finally Resolved
Bisiwu’s first few months at Barcelona have been somewhat unusual. Although he joined the club during the summer and impressed during pre-season, registration complications prevented him from appearing in an official first-team match.
The youngster has still gained some competitive experience with the reserves, including an appearance in a friendly against Reus.
However, it was his pre-season display for Flick’s senior side that attracted significant attention. Bisiwu scored twice against Basel, showcasing the pace, directness and attacking ability that made Barcelona interested in him.
Now, with his La Liga registration finally approved, the winger is no longer restricted by administrative problems.
Flick Now Has Another Attacking Option
The decision on when Bisiwu makes his competitive debut will ultimately belong to Flick.
The Barcelona coach has already had an extended look at the teenager during pre-season, meaning he will have a good idea of whether Bisiwu is ready for the demands of first-team football.
At just 18, the club is unlikely to rush him, but his availability gives Flick another young attacking option to consider during a busy season.
Bisiwu Also Enters Barcelona’s Champions League Plans
Bisiwu’s integration into the senior squad has also progressed in Europe.
Barcelona recently included the Belgian winger on their Champions League List A, giving him the possibility of featuring in European competition as well.
He has been registered with the No. 27 shirt for the Champions League, further underlining the club’s intention to involve him in the first-team setup.
After months of waiting, Bisiwu now has the administrative clearance he needed. The next question is whether Flick will decide that the exciting teenager is ready to make his long-awaited Barcelona debut.
