Confirmed: Two Barcelona Players Named in Germany Squad for Nations League Fixtures

Germany head coach Jürgen Klopp has announced an unusual 44-man squad for the upcoming UEFA Nations League fixtures, with two Barcelona players receiving international call-ups.

Karim Adeyemi and Marc-André ter Stegen have both been selected, although the Barcelona teammates will represent Germany during different parts of the international window.

Ter Stegen and Adeyemi Included in Separate Squads

FIFA has introduced a three-week international window during which European nations will play four matches, prompting Klopp to split Germany's 44 players into two groups.

Ter Stegen has been included in the first group, while Adeyemi features in the second.

The Barcelona goalkeeper, who is currently on loan at Ajax, is expected to be involved in Germany's matches against the Netherlands on September 24 and Greece on September 27.

Adeyemi will join the national team for the subsequent fixtures against Serbia on October 1 and Greece on October 4.

Augsburg goalkeeper Finn Dahmen is the only player selected for both groups.

Big Opportunity for Both Barcelona Stars

Ter Stegen was recently left on the bench for Ajax's meeting with Willem II, but the decision was reportedly part of a rotation plan rather than a fitness concern.

With Manuel Neuer having retired from international football, Ter Stegen could now have an opportunity to establish himself as Germany's first-choice goalkeeper under Klopp.

For Adeyemi, the call-up represents a significant change in fortunes.

The forward was not included in Julian Nagelsmann's Germany squad for the 2026 World Cup, but his impressive start to life at Barcelona has put him back in contention at international level.

Adeyemi has quickly become one of Barcelona's most dangerous attacking players. Against Racing Santander, he won two penalties and supplied the assist for Lamine Yamal, adding to the three goals he had already scored in his previous appearances for the Catalan club.

His latest performances have now earned him another opportunity to impress on the international stage.
