Bayern Munich Consider January Move for Barcelona Star Dani Olmo

Bayern Munich are reportedly considering a January approach for Barcelona midfielder Dani Olmo as they assess their attacking options ahead of the second half of the season.

According to Sky Sports, the German champions are weighing up whether to make a move for the Spanish international during the upcoming winter transfer window.

Olmo remains an important part of Hansi Flick's squad and is under contract with Barcelona until 2030, meaning Bayern would face a difficult negotiation if they decide to make their interest concrete.

Bayern Have Followed Olmo for Years

Bayern's interest in Olmo is not new.

The Bundesliga giants have reportedly admired the midfielder since his time at RB Leipzig, where he spent four years between 2020 and 2024.

During his Leipzig spell, Olmo made close to 150 appearances, contributing 29 goals and 34 assists before returning to Barcelona in 2024.

His development in Germany only strengthened Bayern's interest, and the club has continued monitoring him since his return to Catalonia.

The Bavarians are now reportedly evaluating whether to turn that long-standing admiration into a formal approach.

Barcelona Would Demand a Significant Fee

A January deal would not be straightforward.

Olmo is reportedly valued at around €70 million (£60 million), while his long-term Barcelona contract gives the Catalan club a strong negotiating position.

The midfielder has also remained involved throughout the season, featuring in all eight of Barcelona's matches so far and providing three assists.

Although competition from Fermín López has limited him to three starts, Olmo remains part of Flick's plans and continues to compete for a regular starting position.

Olmo's World Cup Role Adds to His Value

Olmo also arrives at this season having played an important role in Spain's 2026 World Cup triumph.

The Barcelona midfielder started six of Spain's eight matches during their title-winning campaign and contributed two assists.

That experience, combined with his technical ability and versatility in attacking positions, makes him an attractive option for Bayern.

The German club are reportedly also keeping an eye on other attacking players, including Michael Olise and Jamal Musiala, as they assess their squad options.

For Barcelona, however, losing Olmo halfway through the season would create a significant sporting challenge.

With the player tied to the club until 2030 and considered an important member of Flick's squad, Bayern would likely need a substantial offer to persuade Barça to even consider a January sale.
