The Uruguayan defender is spending the season on loan at Liverpool, with an option to buy that could reportedly reach €55 million.
Barcelona are said to be increasingly optimistic that Liverpool could activate the clause next summer.
Araujo has reportedly been performing well since moving to England, potentially making a permanent transfer easier to complete. Liverpool also possess the financial resources required to finance the deal.
