Barcelona Confirm Pedro Rodriguez Contract Extension Until 2030
Barcelona have officially secured the future of promising midfielder Pedro Rodriguez, with the club confirming that the young talent has signed a new contract running until June 30, 2030.
The agreement extends his previous deal, which was due to expire next June, and represents another important step in Barcelona’s efforts to retain their most promising academy players.
Pedro, who currently plays for Barça Atlètic, is considered one of the exciting young talents developing within the club’s renowned La Masia academy.
Barcelona Officially Announce Pedro’s Renewal
Barcelona confirmed the agreement in an official statement, announcing that the midfielder would remain at the club for another four seasons.

“FC Barcelona has reached an agreement with Pedro Rodriguez to extend his contract for four more seasons, so he will remain linked to the Club until June 30, 2030,” the statement read.
The signing ceremony took place at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper, Barcelona’s training complex. Pedro was accompanied by youth football directors Jaume Santiveri and Jose Ramon Alexanco.
The extension gives the club greater security over the midfielder’s future as he continues his development within Barcelona’s youth system.
A Promising La Masia Talent With Big Potential
Pedro has attracted attention as one of the promising midfielders emerging from La Masia.
He played an important role for Barcelona’s Juvenil A side last season before making the step up to Barça Atlètic. That progression reflects the club’s confidence in his potential, although he still faces competition as he adjusts to the demands of senior football.
At just 18 years old, Pedro has time to develop physically and tactically while gaining experience at a higher level.
His midfield qualities include good vision and dependable passing, allowing him to contribute to Barcelona’s possession-based style. He can operate as a defensive midfielder or in a more advanced central role, giving him tactical versatility.
However, competition within a generation containing several highly rated young players has made securing a regular starting position for Barça Atlètic a challenge.
European Interest Has Not Changed His Decision
Pedro’s decision to extend his contract comes despite reported interest from several major European clubs in recent seasons.
For Barcelona, retaining a young player who has attracted attention elsewhere is an encouraging sign. The club continues to place importance on developing academy prospects rather than allowing talented players to leave before their potential has been fully realised.
The new agreement also provides Pedro with a clearer path to continue progressing through the club’s system, although a first-team breakthrough will depend on his performances, development and opportunities.

What the New Contract Means for Barcelona
Securing Pedro until 2030 gives Barcelona more time to assess his progress and potentially integrate him into the senior setup in the future.
The midfielder still has important steps to take before establishing himself at the highest level, but his technical qualities and ability to play different roles make him an interesting prospect.
For Pedro, the immediate priority will be to earn more minutes and continue improving with Barça Atlètic. For Barcelona, the renewal represents another investment in the long-term future of La Masia.
The club’s announcement confirms that Pedro will remain part of the project for the foreseeable future. Whether he eventually becomes a regular first-team player will be determined by how successfully he makes the next stages of his development count.
