João Félix Reflects on Barcelona Spell and Praises Lamine Yamal
João Félix may no longer be a Barcelona player, but his time in Catalonia clearly remains close to his heart.
The Portuguese forward, now playing for Al Nassr, recently returned to the spotlight after scoring in Portugal's 1-0 Nations League victory over Wales.
While his career has taken him to several major European clubs, Félix still looks back fondly on his time wearing the Barcelona shirt — even though his loan spell ended without a major trophy.
Félix: ‘I’m So Happy That I Wore the Barcelona Shirt’
Félix spent the 2023/24 season at Barcelona on loan from Atlético Madrid, producing moments of quality but ultimately failing to secure a permanent move to the Catalan club.
Despite that, he remembers the experience positively.
“Very beautiful memories. It’s true that in the end we weren’t able to win any titles, but just playing for Barcelona gave me immense happiness.”
The Portuguese international also acknowledged that playing for a club on loan is fundamentally different from being permanently contracted to the team.
According to Félix, a single season can change dramatically depending on form, circumstances and opportunities.
“It’s clear that playing on loan is different from being tied to a permanent contract with the club; the situation is completely different when you’re actually a player in the club’s ranks.”
He also explained that a player's experience during a loan spell can go in either direction.
“In one year, many things can happen; the period might be excellent or extremely bad, and you might go through moments of brilliance or decline.”

Barcelona Was a Childhood Dream
Despite not remaining at the club permanently, Félix considers his time at Barcelona a special chapter of his career.
The Portuguese forward revealed that representing Barça had been a dream since childhood.
“But I’m so happy that I wore the Barcelona shirt; it was a dream that’s haunted me since childhood, just as it has my father and brother.”
Félix added that playing for Barcelona was a source of immense pride and that he genuinely enjoyed his time in Catalonia.
His comments show that, despite the complicated circumstances surrounding his departure, the experience itself remains something he values highly.
Félix Has Special Praise for Lamine Yamal
Félix also revealed that he continues to follow Barcelona closely.
And one player in particular keeps drawing his attention: Lamine Yamal.
The Portuguese forward admitted that Barcelona remains the team he watches most, partly because of the excitement generated by the teenage superstar.
“I follow Barcelona, and of course I watch them a lot for Lamine; I adore his playing style, his way of approaching matches, and how he brings us joy.”
Félix went even further, explaining that watching Yamal play is enjoyable even for supporters sitting at home.
“Watching him in itself brings pleasure, and makes you, sitting at home on the couch, feel the same level of enjoyment that he and the Barcelona team feel.”
Another Major Name Backing Yamal
Félix's comments add his name to the growing list of players and football figures who have publicly praised Yamal.
The Barcelona teenager continues to attract widespread attention ahead of the Ballon d'Or ceremony, with his performances placing him among the leading names in the conversation.
For Félix, however, the admiration appears to go beyond statistics or individual awards.
He simply enjoys watching Yamal play.
And coming from someone who once shared the Barcelona dressing room, his praise provides another reminder of the unique excitement surrounding the young winger.
