Lamine Yamal Set for Major Barcelona Salary Increase After Sensational Rise
Lamine Yamal’s extraordinary start to the new season has once again demonstrated why Barcelona consider him one of the most important players in their long-term project.
The young winger is already performing at a level few players reach at any age, let alone at his stage of development. His performances, market value and growing influence have placed him firmly among the biggest names in world football.
And Barcelona are now preparing to reward his continued rise.
Yamal Already Leads Barcelona’s Salary Structure
Yamal is currently understood to be Barcelona’s highest-paid player, with his annual earnings estimated at around €20 million net when his fixed salary and performance-related bonuses are combined.
Rodri, following his arrival at Barcelona, has moved into a similar salary range, while Raphinha is also expected to enter that bracket following his recent contract renewal.
However, neither player is expected to remain close to Yamal for long.
According to MARCA, Barcelona have a previously agreed plan to increase Yamal’s salary again, meaning the club intends to recognize his rapid development and exceptional performances with another financial upgrade.
The Raise Was Already Part of His Contract Plan
Yamal’s most recent Barcelona renewal came in 2025, when he committed his long-term future to the club.
As part of that agreement, Barcelona included a provision for his salary to be reviewed after two years depending on his development and performances.
There is now little doubt that Yamal has more than justified that increase.
Rather than simply maintaining his level, the teenager has continued to establish himself as one of the most influential players in the Barcelona squad and one of the most valuable young footballers in the world.
The planned salary increase, therefore, is not unexpected. It is essentially a reward that was already built into the agreement.
Barcelona Must First Solve a Financial Problem
The main obstacle is not Barcelona's willingness to reward Yamal.
It is the club's Sports Staff Cost Limit.
According to the report, Barcelona’s current limit stands at approximately €582 million, while their existing salary commitments are already close to €581 million.
That leaves virtually no immediate room to activate another significant increase.
Barcelona expect their salary limit to rise to around €636 million during the current year, which would provide the necessary financial flexibility to implement Yamal’s promised salary adjustment.
That means the increase is likely to happen—but supporters may have to wait several more months before it officially takes effect.
Renewals Remain Barcelona’s Priority
For Barcelona, Yamal’s new salary is part of a broader strategy to secure the futures of their most important players.
The club has already demonstrated its desire to build around a core of young stars while rewarding those who establish themselves at the highest level.
Yamal sits at the center of that project.
His development has been extraordinary, and Barcelona now appear determined to make sure his contract reflects his status within the team.
The biggest question is no longer whether Yamal deserves a raise.
It is simply when Barcelona will have enough salary-cap room to give him the reward they already promised.
