Former La Masia Star Arnau Tenas Refuses to Rule Out Barcelona Return: “It Would Be Like Coming Home”

Former Barcelona academy goalkeeper Arnau Tenas has admitted that he would love the opportunity to return to Camp Nou one day, describing a potential comeback as “coming home.”

The 25-year-old goalkeeper, now playing for Mallorca, was once regarded as one of the most promising goalkeeping talents to emerge from La Masia.

Tenas spent years developing within Barcelona’s academy before leaving the club in 2023 as a free agent to join Paris Saint-Germain.

However, his move to France failed to produce the breakthrough he had hoped for.

Tenas Still Dreams of Barcelona

Tenas spent two seasons at PSG but made just eight appearances before returning to Spain and joining Villarreal.

He subsequently moved to Mallorca on loan this summer, where he has made an impressive start in the Segunda División, keeping six clean sheets in his first eight matches.

Speaking to Cadena SER, Tenas was asked about the possibility of returning to his boyhood club.

His answer was clear.

“If I said I wouldn’t want to go back to Barça, I’d be lying; it would be like coming home.”

The comments underline the affection Tenas still has for Barcelona despite leaving the club more than three years ago.

Tenas Keeps Close Relationships With Former Barça Teammates

During his time at La Masia, Tenas shared the dressing room with several players who have since reached Barcelona’s first team.

He remains particularly close to Eric Garcia, while he also spent time alongside Gavi, Pau Cubarsí and Xavi Espart during his development at the academy.

The goalkeeper also discussed the tactical similarities he noticed between Barcelona and PSG, particularly their emphasis on pressing and movement.

Those experiences have given Tenas a unique perspective on both clubs.

Tenas Praises Raphinha

The Mallorca goalkeeper also had plenty of praise for Raphinha, who has enjoyed an excellent start to the current campaign.

Tenas revealed that the Brazilian had experienced difficult moments behind the scenes, making his current performances even more impressive.

“I’m very happy for Raphinha. I’m very pleased with him. Some people don’t see everything that’s going on behind the scenes, and there were times when he was really struggling.”

He was particularly impressed by the winger’s intensity and work rate.

“What’s he doing this season so far? What’s wrong with him? I don’t understand anything. He’s incredibly intense. He puts a lot of pressure on everyone.”

Tenas Recalls Carvajal Clash

Tenas also looked back on a tense moment involving former Real Madrid captain Dani Carvajal during a Clasico.

Rather than viewing the incident as something serious, the former Barcelona goalkeeper described it as a misunderstanding that simply occurred during the intensity of the match.

“It was a misunderstanding. I get nervous and I remember it as if it were yesterday. These are things that happen on the pitch.”

For now, Tenas is focused on his career with Mallorca. But his latest comments make one thing clear: the door to a Barcelona return remains open in his mind.
