Barcelona Keep Close Eye on Palmeiras Wonderkid Eduardo Conceicao

Barcelona are continuing to monitor Palmeiras teenager Eduardo Conceicao after the Brazilian youngster caught attention during the UEFA Friendship Tournament in Switzerland.

According to SPORT, Barça representatives have been following the 16-year-old midfielder during the competition as they assess his progress against several of Europe’s promising youth teams.

However, Barcelona have not made any formal approach for the player. With Conceicao still under 18, the Catalan club’s interest currently remains at the scouting and monitoring stage.

Conceicao Makes Early Impression for Brazil

Conceicao immediately showed his potential in Brazil’s opening match of the tournament, finding the net during a dominant 6-0 victory over Canada.

Brazil then suffered a 3-1 defeat against Spain before responding with a 2-1 win over Ivory Coast. The victory secured Brazil a place in the third-place play-off against Colombia.

Barcelona were reportedly present in Nyon to assess several young talents during the tournament, with Conceicao among the players attracting particular attention.

The Palmeiras midfielder is considered by members of Barça’s sporting structure to possess significant potential. Nevertheless, admiration has not yet resulted in negotiations or an official transfer proposal.

Palmeiras Set €100 Million Release Clause

Palmeiras have already moved to protect their highly rated youngster.

The Brazilian club has handed Conceicao his first professional contract, reportedly including a release clause of at least €100 million.

Such a figure would make any future transfer extremely difficult, particularly for Barcelona, who continue to operate within financial limitations when pursuing new players.

The clause also gives Palmeiras considerable negotiating power if interest in the teenager increases over the coming years.

Barcelona Want to See More From Conceicao

For now, Barcelona appear willing to take their time.

Although Conceicao's talent is recognised, there have reportedly been questions over whether his development has progressed as quickly as initially expected.

That makes tournaments such as the Friendship Tournament particularly valuable for Barça's scouting department.

Rather than rushing into a transfer, Barcelona can continue watching the midfielder against stronger opposition and determine whether his recent performances represent another significant step in his development.

At just 16, Conceicao has plenty of time to develop, and Barcelona's current approach suggests they want to gather more information before deciding whether to pursue him seriously.

For now, the Palmeiras youngster remains a name on Barcelona's scouting radar rather than an imminent transfer target.
