Hansi Flick Delivers Barcelona Transfer Demand: Only Julian Alvarez Can Replace Lewandowski

Hansi Flick Makes Barcelona Striker Demand as Julian Alvarez Emerges as Lewandowski Successor

Hansi Flick has reportedly made his position clear to Barcelona’s sporting hierarchy: Julian Alvarez is the only striker he wants to lead the club’s attack next season.

According to El Chiringuito TV, the Barcelona manager has rejected the idea of pursuing alternative centre-forward options and believes the Atletico Madrid star is the perfect long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski.

The Argentine striker has become one of Barcelona’s biggest priorities during the summer transfer window, with the club determined to strengthen the No. 9 position after Lewandowski’s departure.

Flick Fully Committed to Julian Alvarez Move

Barcelona’s pursuit of Alvarez has become one of the biggest transfer stories of the summer.

Although club president Joan Laporta recently suggested that Barcelona would consider other options if negotiations with Atletico Madrid became too complicated, Flick’s stance is reportedly much stronger.

The German coach believes Alvarez possesses all the qualities needed to become Barcelona’s attacking leader.

Reports claim Flick has already communicated his preference internally and has personally reached out to the Argentine forward in an attempt to convince him of the project at Camp Nou.

Barcelona have also reportedly submitted an official proposal to Atletico Madrid after Alvarez made his desire for a new challenge known.

Speaking about the situation, journalist Jordi Jota revealed:

“Flick says he only wants Julian Alvarez. His centre-forward is the Argentine player. He wants him to be Barça’s number nine.”

Barcelona Searching for Lewandowski’s Successor

The need for a new striker has become increasingly important for Barcelona following Lewandowski’s exit.

The Polish forward was one of the club’s most reliable goalscorers in recent seasons, but Barcelona now need a younger attacker capable of leading the line for years to come.

Jordi Jota explained why Flick considers Alvarez the ideal solution:

“Now that Lewandowski has left, Barça need a number nine come what may, and there’s no better striker than Julian Alvarez. Whatever Flick says goes.”

Alvarez fits many of the qualities Flick values, including pressing intensity, movement, technical ability and the versatility to operate in different attacking roles.

Atletico Madrid Preparing for Possible Departure

Despite Atletico Madrid publicly insisting that Alvarez is not available, behind-the-scenes developments suggest the club may be preparing for different scenarios.

According to the report, Atletico manager Diego Simeone is already exploring possible replacements should the Argentine eventually leave.

Real Sociedad captain Mikel Oyarzabal has reportedly emerged as one of the players admired by Simeone.

Jordi Jota claimed:

“Simeone is smitten with him and he could be a replacement for both Julián and Griezmann.”

If Atletico manage to secure a replacement before the transfer window closes, Barcelona could find negotiations for Alvarez becoming significantly easier.

Alvarez Waiting as Barcelona Remain Confident

Barcelona believe Alvarez’s desire to join the club could play an important role in negotiations.

The Argentine reportedly dreams of representing the Blaugrana and has already made his feelings known through his representatives.

However, Atletico remain in a powerful negotiating position due to Alvarez’s long-term contract and his release clause.

For now, Barcelona continue to wait while maintaining confidence that an agreement can eventually be reached.

With Flick strongly backing the move, Julian Alvarez has become more than just a transfer target — he has become the player Barcelona believe can define their attack for the next generation.
